Yes! I know that sounds strange but maybe it got your attention. What does it all mean? If you will hang tight I’ll try to explain it the best way I can.

A few years ago as I embarked on this art journey I found myself in search of all I would need to create “the” piece that would fit my visual ache.  I knew what I wanted it to look like but I didn’t know what I would need to achieve it.

I found myself searching and suddenly standing in the aisle at Lowe’s. I left that day with a bucket of vinyl spackling in hand without a clue as to how it would work, or how God was about to use it.

#Getspackled is my story.. my challenge to you. Sharing how God took the elements of art and transformed my heart, all while creating with you.   My hearts desire was to create, I had never intended to open my mouth and share. But God…

He began to strengthen my heart and doors began to open for me to be in front of people.. women. I had opportunities to share and as I did my heart grew. It grew in ways I did not expect. You see, I never saw myself worthy of speaking in front of a group. I always said there was a strange disconnect between what I was thinking and how it actually came out of my mouth. Most recently a very wise friend said, “ but when you are talking about Jesus and what He’s doing, it takes all the pressure off, you’re talking about him and not yourself.” Freedom

So this new year,  2019,  brings excitement in what’s to come. My first speaking/creating date is in February with over 100 women. I’m asking God to go before me and “do exceeding, abundantly above all I could ask or imagine..”

If you are interested in learning more or having me create with your group please email me kristihalldesigns@gmail com and let’s get spackled together!

Our Favorite Banana Bread

3/4 cup (1 1/2 sticks/6 oz/170g) unsalted butter, softened
1 (8-ounce) package cream cheese, softened
2 cups granulated sugar
2 eggs, beaten
3 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 cups mashed bananas (about 4 medium bananas)
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (180 C). Grease and flour two 8 x 4-inch loaf pans, or line bottoms of pans with parchment paper and spray paper with nonstick cooking spray. In a large bowl, beat butter and cream cheese at medium speed with an electric mixer until creamy. Gradually add sugar, beating until light and fluffy. Add eggs, one at a time, beating just until combined.

Combine flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt; gradually add to butter mixture, beating at low speed just until blended. Stir in bananas, pecans and vanilla. Spoon batter into prepared loaf pans.

Bake in preheated oven for 60 to 70 minutes, or until a toothpick or wooden skewer inserted in the center comes out clean and sides pull away from the pan. If necessary, place aluminum foil over breads the last 15 minutes of baking to prevent over-browning.

Cool bread in pans on wire racks for 20 minutes. Remove from pans (and if you used parchment paper to line pans, remove paper) and cool breads

3/4c powdered sugar

just enough orange juice to make a glaze like consistency! I like to take a fork, poke holes and pour over! 🙈❤️But oh so good!!

Bring a tired bedroom back to life..

062C2DE3-045D-48ED-9711-2072307DC884Recently, I wanted to freshen up my bedroom without spending too much. Call it Spring Fever.. just needed a fresh look.

If you know me at all, then you know I love finding a good deal and I pride myself on the whole “look for less” thing.

first- Revere Pewter for walls! WIN

I wanted to keep my off white coverlet but change pillows and accessories. Changing pillows is HUGE…

I ended up finding three Euro pillows at Homegoods as well as two gray lumbar pillows. These were perfect and gave me the “clean” look I was going for.  The euro pillows were $24.99 each and the lumbars were 12.99. I added a gray throw at the foot of the bed to complete it.

Lamps came from Hobby Lobby 50% off and they are my very favorite! I love the metal base. Both lamps $80.. 🙌🏻

They went perfectly with a piece of art I was working on.. I wanted to keep it somewhat neutral and simple. When choosing art for a master bedroom I have three tips..

1-The bedroom is a retreat, a place for relaxation and the artwork should reflect that.

2-The best walls for art in the bedroom are directly over the bed or on the wall opposite the bed. Large scale pieces are best and should be hung at eye level. Look for abstract pieces with soothing colors or tones.

3- Remember its his room too.. fight the urge to be girly.. save that for your wardrobe. THIS is why I love and chose abstract art for our wall. Makes a statement without challenging his man card. 😉21DC048D-C3B9-4D80-AFB2-CC28C91323EC

Friday Favs and a few tips from my Mama

Three favorites this week and a talk with my Mama..I’ll start with her…❤️0787CE26-C55B-48BB-801E-F9F5BD636C327DBE94AB-05EE-40DC-A868-76D7F171D63A

I’m always asking my Mom and she’s mostly always right. She’s taught me everything I know.. from making homemade biscuits and cornbread to beauty secrets. I’m so happy she took the time to teach me so much!

She turns 70 this year and her skin is flawless.. So I asked her..

tip#1- When I asked her about wrinkles, skincare and products.. “I use Aquaphor around my eyes at night.”  (What? Ok I can do that). “ I wash my face with Aveeno skin brightening scrub.. and that’s it.” Seriously.. I was expecting a list.. Find it

tip#2 “I use a brightening bronzer on my cheekbones that I love, it’s from MAC and I use it everyday for a little glow” I actually bought this recently and I must say it’s now a favorite of mine too! 🙂  I will link it here

tip#3 – make up tip.. “LESS IS MORE..ALWAYS!  I think this applies to a lot of things….” AGREE.. she modeled this well and continues to. She also taught us some great rules about the mirror.. I don’t ever remember her gazing at herself a million times a day… she just got ready, re applied lipstick when needed and moved on. I love that about her!

There is so much more I could share from her..  I’m saving it for later! 🙂 stay tuned..

My three FAVORITES this week..

1- Favorite mascara.. Its a steal for 8.99. I feel like I have tried them all..  but this one HANDS DOWN .. find it here

2-HAIR..  ok so we do not all have the same hair, or texture but this magic not only works on my thicker, coarse hair but also on my sister who’s hair is more fine. A little goes a long way but it is my very favorite.. check your local salons. The good stuff

3- A great fitting pant.. you know when you find a good one you want to get all the colors? On sale this week..  RIGHT HERE I LOVE these pants. I have black, navy and yellow and they do not disappoint! A little stretch but not so much that they grow the more you wear them… that drives me crazy. These hit at such a cute place on the ankle which allows for flats or heels.. One more look..Here The navy and pink are perfect for Spring!

Serioulsy.. thanks for stopping by. I enjoy sharing.. 💗

Let’s Cook Monday

Each Monday I will  TRY to be ready to share what I’m cooking for dinner. It’s very real and I’m sure there will be some Uh-Oh moments but hey.. we’re cooking together… and it’s Monday! 😊 Expect mistakes here. 5188EDC1-DB9A-47AC-AFBB-675D6FA6FCB7

This Monday I made my version of Jalapeño Popper Chicken. Simple. Easy. And for the most part quick! For those following the Keto diet this would be a good meal for you.. it’s low carb and full of cheese and bacon. I do not follow Keto but I do limit my carbs for dinner..age y’all!

For this dish you will need

4-5 thin chicken cutlets  spread in a baking dish, seasoned with salt, pepper and garlic powder.  I spread about 1tbsp of cream cheese over each piece of chicken. Next, I sliced and removed all the seeds from 4 jalapeños and placed half of one on each cutlet. Sprinkle with cheddar cheese and bake @375 for 45 minutes.

As soon as it comes out of the oven I sprinkled it with crumbled bacon.

Served with sautéed spinach, mashed potatoes and French bread.

this was a 👍🏻 Meal for my family.. although, I will say the amount of jalapeño on each cutlet was a bit much for me. Even with the seeds removed it was still rather warm. My husband on the other hand.. LOVED IT!

Will I make this again? YES

Let me know if you try it!

Beautiful You..💕

C058D107-E888-4B2F-B7EE-4CE491CE79FFSimple really,  yet the words are so hard to see and believe about ourselves, especially as women. We live in a “filtered” world where photos, billboards, IG stories and the like all come with a way to “fix us up”so we feel good about our appearance. Most often times ignoring the adorning of the inside.

I am just like you! I can be pretty hard on myself! I firmly believe we should present ourselves in a positive way. I love clothes, jewelry, the latest fashion trends and makeup tips just as much as anyone. I would be lying if I said I didn’t.  I love sharing all of that.. it’s fun for me and probably always will be. I have NO PROBLEM with that… as long as I keep it in perspective and in its proper place. So yes.. if I find a GOOD THING you better believe I will let you know. Girls helping Girls! ❤️

So here’s the scoop!

A few months ago I removed myself and my art page from IG. It was a very hard thing to do but I felt the nudge in my heart to lay it aside. There were things..

good things, that were being used in a negative way to creep into my heart and mind. Feelings began to surface.. “you are nothing”, “you will never be good enough”, “they don’t really like you” ..  comparisons threatened me..and the list grew.  Over and over they would come. Although I had been taught that my feelings were not truth..they sounded pretty close and true in my mind. It was a battle.

As women, I firmly believe we all battle the same things. They may all come wrapped differently but girl they are served on the same stinkin platter! Insecurity, Self Worth, Comparisons, Fear.. you can fill in the blank!

What do we do?       Find Truth!

Truth, my friends is only found in Jesus. Period

The Big Three

1-Beautiful/ 2.Valued/ 3. Created by a God who loves me

When we grasp these three our vision shifts and we begin to see ourselves as God sees us.

Through this season, God birthed something new in my heart. He took my love for art and creativity and gave me a vision to be shared with teen girls(more on this later and protecting your house) and women around me. A time to come together, be encouraged, be real, share good things with laughter. Relating as women and strengthening the bond of sisterhood! A painting party to celebrate YOU and the unique way you were created!! Loved.. Acceppted.. just as you are!

I took the IG plunge and resurfaced which was a bit uncomfortable, honestly. But, I am walking in confidence behind the ONE who has gone before me. Will I encounter those “feelings” again..  Maybe..  But I am choosing TRUTH!

The most Beautiful part is HIS part!!! His love, His arms of acceptance… and how He sees you..BEAUTIFUL YOU!

join me!

God is with her, she will not fall. God will help her at break of day. Ps. 46:5
